Cocoa Cola

I thought this was funny. How does stuff like this get printed, much less posted for all to see? Unless there is a new flavor of soda I don't know about?

Chou-Chou

Here is the new kitten that we picked out at the animal shelter yesterday. She is a miniature version of Kitty, the cat we have already. She is a blue Persian. We will name her Chou-Chou (pronounced "shu shu"). That is French for little cutiepie. She has to get fixed at the vet before we can bring her home. Should be early next week. I am so excited but have some trepidation. Will she terrorize Kitty? Will she take Kitty's lead and pee on the carpet? Will Kitty and Chou-Chou be BFFs or will they bring out the hiss in each other?

Lie to Me *major spoilers* and Salad Fingers

I am 'shipping Cal Lightman and Gillian Foster on Lie to Me, my new fave show since Bones and House are on hiatus. I made this screen shot from a preview of upcoming episodes. Cal is wearing a wedding ring and so I suppose they are under cover. The old "undercover" plot never gets old. Great characters, especially Cal . I love me a careless, reckless, occasionally mean, masochistic, beautiful genius of a character with a death wish. The most physically beat up character ever probably. And Tim Roth plays him so well.

Here is my new discovery, Salad Fingers: a character created by British cartoonist David Firth in 2004. I recommend that you only look at the picture and don't watch the video. Unless you are warped, you won't like it, and I am sure none of my readers are warped.

perhaps foremost

Quotation of the day: "Perhaps foremost, he wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science ... and math and engineering." --NASA Administrator Charles Bolden, on what President Obama told him NASA should be doing

"There is no technology they have that we need."--Michael Griffin, former NASA Administrator, in response to Charles Bolden's statement above

Aubrey's high school graduation

Here are Aubrey's graduation photos, all out of order. In completely backwards order actually. She went to two different high schools, on alternating days for four years. The first pictures are from Stone Bridge High School.

Aubrey with long-time boyfriend Parker:
Aubrey with superfriend Claire:

Jerry, Aubrey, and me:

Rebekah and Aubrey:
About to get her diploma. Later I will put up a video of the actual reading of the name etc.

At the Patriot Center:

Procession into the arena, set to "Pomp and Circumstance." This is where I cried. That song is a killer.

Aubrey is the grinning one:
Here we are after the Academy of Science graduation. Jerry, Rebekah, Aubrey, me, Grandpa George (Jerry's dad). This graduation is where Aubrey got her cords that she was able to wear in the Stone Bridge graduation above. The cords signify the great honor it was for her to be invited to attend the Academy of Science.

Our little family:

Later I will put up a video of the Academy of Science graduation too.

So. Darn. Proud. And a little freaked out.

some modeling

The girls did some modeling for my friend Amber's business, Sassy Becker Designs. These pictures are the final product. Rebekah took the first picture of Aubrey, and Amber took and photoshopped the second picture of Rebekah. It was a real trip seeing Rebekah in a wedding gown.

Steampunk

I am SO digging Steampunk. Steampunk is a subgenre of speculative fiction or science fiction that emphasizes anachronistic technology, usually from the Victorian age. It is also used to refer to a trend in fashion and music. Think League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Here is a picture that illustrates the Steampunk genre.

Here are some examples of things in Steampunk style that I love. This is a picture of the save the date cards I want to send out for our 20th anniversary renewal of vows party:

I have been looking at earrings since I only own one pair. If I could choose any earrings right now, here are some Steampunk style ones I would order:
