V for Vendetta

I saw V for Vendetta on TV last night. I had seen/heard pieces of it before through a fog, but this time I was able to sit down and really let it soak in. I have a penchant for movies made from comic books, and this one did not disappoint. In fact, I loved it. Tales as old as time, both beauty and the beast and revolution, but they were done in such a unique way!

It did not hurt that the lovely Stephen Fry was in it. When asked in an interview what he liked about the role, Fry replied "Being beaten up! I hadn't been beaten up in a movie before and I was very excited by the idea of being clubbed to death."

There was just a feeling to the movie that I can't describe. It sucked me in. I couldn't sleep last night because of it. It's one of those rare movies that I could watch over and over and still not catch everything.

Quotation of the day: " A revolution without dancing is a revolution not worth having!" -V, from V for Vendetta

eggs daily double

Daily double: Two days ago Jerry spilled scrambled eggs all over himself. He got them down into the crocs he was wearing. While we were cleaning them up, we discussed the meaning of the phrase "had egg on his/her face". Cut to us watching The Office last night. Michael spilled a whole bowl of eggs all over himself. He got it on his face even. Then he commented on the fact that the eggs had got themselves down into his crocs!!!

death in the townhouse *house spoilers*

  • Here is my little townhouse. It is the skinny one with blue shutters toward the top of the picture, that looks like it is getting squished by the mammoths on either side of it. If I have it my way, I will die in my bed on the third floor someday.

  • I like Dr. Lawrence Kutner. He is dead. A tribute:

  • I like Adam Lambert. He is not dead. He is androgyny at its finest. Jerry says Adam can solve the financial crisis with his voice.

over it

I am so over Lady Gaga.

Lady Gaga and M.I.A.

I don't know much about her, but I can't help liking Lady Gaga. Like millions of others, I have only heard two of her songs and have seen her perform once, but I would like to explore more. I can't help comparing the sound of her "Poker Face" to M.I.A.'s "Paper Planes". Though they sound nothing alike, they both have a bizarreness that is very appealing to me. If you are offended by hard-core drug dealer satire songs, don't listen to "Paper Planes". I couldn't include the real "Poker Face" video because it's obscene, but you can listen to the song at least, if you so
choose.

Monsters vs. Aliens *spoiler alert*

  • I went to see Monsters vs. Aliens by myself. It was good, but not really, really good. I went to hear Hugh Laurie as Dr. Cockroach (whose Ph.D. is in dance). Hearing Hugh was worth it in itself. I also enjoyed Insectosaurus and the fact that all the women were pear-shaped. Spoiler: the monsters win.
  • Word of the day: sniffy
  • Vitamin D report: still downing the supplements, lying out in the sun. Progress is made.

rickets but not scurvy

I was severely vitamin D deficient about a year and a half ago. See here. Like a dope, I stopped taking D supplements, and now I am severely deficient again. According to the Vitamin D Council, one should maintain a level of at least 50 ng/mL. Mine is 17 ng/mL. I feel like a breakable rock dipped in molasses. Perhaps I have rickets.

Here is a picture I bought a few days ago. If you look very closely, you might be able to see that the two personages in the picture appear to have three penises each.

Aubrey and Rebekah at the computer. I thought they were mighty cute. Rebekah likes to sit on Aubrey's lap.

Kiss of the day: David Tennant (bless him) and some lady:

Mutton busting and the lovely-in-every-way Stephen Fry:
