rickets but not scurvy

I was severely vitamin D deficient about a year and a half ago. See here. Like a dope, I stopped taking D supplements, and now I am severely deficient again. According to the Vitamin D Council, one should maintain a level of at least 50 ng/mL. Mine is 17 ng/mL. I feel like a breakable rock dipped in molasses. Perhaps I have rickets.

Here is a picture I bought a few days ago. If you look very closely, you might be able to see that the two personages in the picture appear to have three penises each.

Aubrey and Rebekah at the computer. I thought they were mighty cute. Rebekah likes to sit on Aubrey's lap.

lie to me please

Fox has done it yet again. I am digging on their TV series Lie to Me.

LIE TO ME, the compelling new drama from the producers of 24, stars Tim Roth
("The Incredible Hulk," "Reservoir Dogs") as DR. CAL LIGHTMAN, the world's
leading deception expert who studies facial expressions and involuntary body
language to discover not only if someone is lying, but why. When someone shrugs
one shoulder, rotates a hand or raises the lower lip, Lightman knows he's lying.

Based on the real-life scientific discoveries of Paul Ekman, the series
follows Lightman and his team of deception experts as they assist law
enforcement and government agencies to expose the truth behind the lies.

I love the main character and the interaction he has with his blond coworker. I love that he has a past, and that we are slowly learning about it. I love the four person team and the fact that they can't keep secrets from each other. I love the job in general and wish I could do it every day myself.

Aubrey's survey

Here is a survey I gave to Aubrey, age 16, and her responses.

1. What is something your mom always says to you? Clean up your blank

2. What is something that makes your mom happy? I don't like this survey. Snuggling on the couch?

3. What makes your mom sad? Okay I don't wanna do this. Messes.

4. What does your mom do that makes you laugh? I don't know. Um... Is this gonna go on your blog? Mom!

5. What was your mom like as a child? I don't know. I didn't know you when you were a child.

6. How old is your mom? I don't know. 38 or 39.

7. How tall is your mom? 5'10 1/2"?

8. What is your mom's favorite thing to watch on TV? House

9. What does your mom do when you're not around? Blogs

10. If your mom becomes famous, what will it be for? *sarcastically* Her blog. I'm protesting this survey.

11. What is your mom really good at? I don't know.

12. What is your mom not very good at? I don't like this.

13. What does your mom do for her job? [me: "Are you done?"] Yes.

The survey was aborted here, alas.

Rebekah's survey

Here is a survey I gave to Rebekah, age 14, and her answers. Stay tuned for Aubrey's answers in another post. I stole this idea from Julie Hurst Smith.

1. What is something your mom always says to you? She says so many things. Um... is that my answer? Are you writing that down? Stop!

2. What is something that makes your mom happy? *bites coat laughing* I don't want to say anything 'cuz you'll write it down. Um... foot rubs make Mommy happy.

3. What makes your mom sad? Dirty rooms, non-done dishes.

4. What does your mom do that makes you laugh? Dancing in the kitchen.

5. What was your mom like as a child? poofy hair

6. How old is your mom? 39 [me: "nope, 38"] Change that to 38.

7. How tall is your mom? really tall

8. What is your mom's favorite thing to watch on TV? House or Bones

9. What does your mom do when you're not around? How am I supposed to know? I'm not around.

10. If your mom becomes famous, what will it be for? Hot dog eating contest

11. What is your mom really good at? everything

12. What is your mom not very good at? hip new lingo and crumping

13. What does your mom do for her job? *laughs* sits there and watches One Tree Hill

14. What is your mom's favorite food? I don't know.

15. What makes you proud of your mom? I am thinking of the right thing to say. Don't do this to Aubrey; she'll get so angry. She is hard-working and gets things done.

16. If your mom were a cartoon character, who would she be? Sponge Bob Squarepants

17. What do you and your mom do together? surveys

18. How are you and your mom the same? We eat, sleep, and poop.

19. How are you and your mom different? She likes cherry pie and I don't.

20. How do you know your mom loves you? We make snuggle-yous, and she reads to me and sniffs my hair.

21. What is your mom's favorite place to go? home

my basil tree

My basil tree. I get myself a string cheese, then pull a few leaves off of this bad boy, and have myself a tasty treat.
Here are pictures of Jerry and me on Valentine's day. [Note my "Mind the Gap" doormat.]
